The Atlanta Metropolitan Area is made up of several counties with a variety of things to offer. Due mostly to the location of my office and my home, as well as, the clients that I serve, I work most often times in Cobb, Dekalb, and Fulton Counties.
In order to give you a better idea of what each of these areas are like, below is some brief information about each. Click on the section title to go to the county's official sites for more detailed information.
 Population: 663,818 Housing Units: 261,659 Median Household income: $67,782
Cobb County is located just Northwest of Atlanta, mostly outside of the I-285 perimeter. Because of it's close proximity to downtown Atlanta and low county taxes, Cobb County is a very popular destinations for people new to the area. It has all the variety of Atlanta living with the privacy and ambience of the suburbs.
Marietta: Cobb's county seat, Marietta's main draw is its three historic districts and the historic town sqaure. The neighborhoods are diverse and full of life and the town square is home to some great boutiques and a spectacular fountain.
East Cobb: With it's strong public school system, East Cobb is a huge residential draw. The well planned subdivisions offer great amenities and range in price from very affordable to the luxurious homes along the Chattahoochee River.

Dekalb County is definitely one of the most diverse counties in Georgia. Home to many of the areas most desireable neighborhoods, Dekalb county also offers great shopping areas, world-class restaurants, and a variety of recreational venues. Located just East of downtown, this area is easily accessible from all 3 major interstates and also is serviced by the MARTA public transit system. Decatur: Decatur is easily accessible from MARTA and is very pedestrian friendly. With its eclectic mix of shops, restaurants, and history, Decatur has always been considered a great place to live. Close to Emory University and Agnes Scott, Decatur has grown to accomodate any lifestyle with the amenities and services you'll need nearby.
Stone Mountain: Not just one of Georgia's great attractions, the village of Stone Mountain is the perfect small town within the Atlanta Metro area. Stone Mountain Park is a beautiful recreational park with attractions to entertain the entire family, not to mention to country's largest relief carving in the side of the mountain commemorating confederate generals. The town itself also offers the atmosphere and charm anyone would expect from a great suburb.

Fulton County is the heart of the Metro Area with Atlanta itself making up the majority of the county. Housing in this area ranges from affordable, quaint cottages and bungalows to historical 19th century Victorian homes to trendy urban lofts and amenity-rich condos. Always lively and with something new to spark your interest everyday and night, Atlanta will definitely never leave you bored. Buckhead: A sub-burrough of Atlanta, Buckhead refers to the Northern, more upscale part of the city. With two of the areas largest malls, amazing restaurants, and beautiful neighborhoods, Buckhead is definitely the place to be if you're looking for plantation homes and a suburban atmosphere in the heart of a big city.
Midtown: Right where I-75 and I-85 meet, a trendy, urban, young lifestyle is taking hold. Surrounding Georgia Tech, Georgia State, and SCAD-ATL, the area caters to the 20-somethings that inhabit the area. More shopping and dining plus a nightlife set Midtown apart from the ritzy northern sections. If loft living and a fast-paced city life is what you want, Midtown is definitely the place to be.
